Funny Titan Story
About a year ago I was lookin' to trade my 02 Ram for a Titan.
I went to a local dealer and checked one out.
It seemed like a nice truck and I liked a lot of the amenities so we started to crunch numbers.
The final number was way to high so we tried to leave, but they wouldn't let use.
Eventually I had to go into to full blown Marine mode on them so we could get out the door, but they had our phone number.
For the next 2 weeks the salesman called use every other day and instead of giving us a better deal it actually got worse.
At one point I asked if he thought we were idiots and he acted like a larger payment for a longer period was a better deal and I must be crazy for not jumping on it.
Eventually I had to call the General Manager. After I explained everything he assured me they wouldn't call me any more.
They didn't
Just before I traded my 02 Ram for an 05 last month I overheard 2 people talking about how their friend just traded in a Titan after owning it for 3 months, seems the hated the cheap feel and 9mpg (his own personal observation).
That really made me feel even better about not getting pressured into buying one
One of my friend got one about a yrs ago i was talking to him the other day he said he would never own another it suxed was in the shop all the time something about the brakes rotors being to small. I try to get him to get a 1500 with a hemi oh no it love the way they looked but want a titan.
I test drove the Titan 4 times at 4 different dealers. All test drives ended in the service bay. I thought that it was a pretty descent truck until then. I thought that if all my test drives had mechanical problems, what will ownership be like???? One test drive forced me to pull over because there was smoke pillowing out from the back end on the freeway, all we could do is smell smoke as if the truck was on fire (not the normal break in smell) . OUCH! Another ended because you hear the motor as if it were in the drivers compartment, like there was no firewall. Another because of the brakes pulsating the stearing wheel extremely hard. If anyone is intrested in their reliablity please go to titantalk.com. They are suffering extremely from undersize brake and undersize or underbuilt rear ends. The are all having the problem of mass quantity of metal shavings coming from the rear end when changing the oil at only 500 miles. I know that some is normal but they are experiencing a scary amount, while some members have already had the rear end go out. I talked to 3 titan owners personally and 2 of them have already had the entire brakes and rear end repalced, the third just had the brakes done.
Give the engineers a few years to work out the problems and they might have a solid truck. Personally, I never buy a 1st year production, especially if it is COMPLETELY new.

I am a Tech for a Nissan dealership here in florida. I do the brakes on a titan atleast 3 times a day. Yes it is true, Nissan made the brakes and rotors too small for such a big truck. First thing we do is cut the front rotors and send the truck on its way, if it comes back a second time we order a full brake kit. We end up replacing the front rotors, pads, torque members and cutting the rear rotors. Its a decent truck, but like one of the fellow members said, its the first year and of course its going to have problems. So thats why i ended up buying a 1500 Reg Cab SLT w/ the hemi and i love every minute of it. Also this was my actual first new vehicle purchase. I am only 20 yrs old and loving it.
I made that mistake once with the nissan frontier in 1998. I traded it after 2 years and countless times to the dealer for warranty work. Nissan is no Toyota in quality. The only thing Nissan has is a good marketing department.
