tansmission problems?
I am sure im not the first person nor the last on here to have problems with there dodge transmission. But what mine is doing is that 1st gear wont shift till about 3000 rpms and sometimes around 2500 rpms but i can shift manually and it does not miss a beat. I did have an emissions test done and I hade a p1762 code come back, so now im in the process of finding a governor pressure sensor and pressure solenoid. So I am just wondering if my transmission is trashed or will those two sensors help it go back to shifting properly. Also, are those gov.pressure sensors and pressure solenoid called anything else because i can not find them anywhere. thanks
You can try downloading the 02 Parts Catalog from the links in my signature below and looking through it on the 545rfe and see if you can find the parts so you can order online or maybe from the dealer. It will also give you an idea of whee they are and how to get to them
Thanks man, I went and got the gov.speed sensor and gov.solenoid so hopefully those work but im not going to get my hopes to high. When putting on those sensors is just as easy as unplugging the old ones and plugging in the new ones.Or is there like a certain pressure they need to have..if that makes anysense at all
I replaced mine last year...might as well change the filter while you are down there. I alsoadjusted the bands and installed a drain plug on the pan to make the next fluid change a little easier.
To answer your question, I didn't notice a change because I didn't have a problem before the fluid change and took a lot of investigation to find the cause after the codes were thrown.
Confused by my post yet???
To sum it up...routine maintenance caused me to replace the solenoids that didn't need replacing, I needed a new computer. How the computer got fried...I'll never know!

im also the having the same problem on my 01 2500 the transmission will go into gear fine however it will not shift into 2nd until i either get it up to 2500 rmps or more or shift it manually, and even then it work everytime but it usually does. Im thinking i should maybe adjust the bands. any ideas?
I did a governor pressure solenoid and sensor on a friends 3500 with a CTD. His would shift fine on initial take off but if he stopped and went to take off again it would start off in second gear. I fixed his almost 3 years ago and he hasn't had another problem with the transmission since. He also runs a programmer, big exhaust and a cold air kit and tows with it. If I remember the solenoid is located on the side of the valve body and the pressure sensor is next to it. I will have to go look though. I'll try to get out to the garage and look at the valve body I took out of the wife's Jeep.
