4x4 wont work. 4lo will
Ok I have a 06 night runner the 4x4 light will not stop flashing when you try to shift into 4wd. when you select 4 hi you can hear the t case solenoid moving as well when you shift to 4lo. In 4 lo the truck drives and shifts how it should but my front wheels will not engage in either mode. this leades me to belive that the module/actuator on the front axel is not working. can anyone help me?
I had this happen with my 07 last fall during deer hunting. I tried multiple scenarios to get the truck into 4WD that didn't work. I ended up getting it to engange by backing up and turning the **** to engage 4WD while slowly rolling backwards. If you listen to the actuators without the engine running, they only attempt to engage for a few seconds before flashing the 4x4 dashlight, so leaving the **** turned to 4x4 doesn't accomplish anything.
Mine has never done it since, but I do believe it is the actuator on the front axle. I guess my theory is that the transfer case is engaging into lo range, therefore the actuator on the transfer case is working. It is the front axle that is not engaging.
Once winter is over here in Wisconsin, I plan on taking the front axle actuator off and investigating. Mine has worked hundreds of times since the initial issue.
