Default 06 Ram Misfire

I've got a 2006 Ram 1500 with 5.7L Hemi with 73K that's giving me the P0306 code. I did go between oil changes a little longer than normal, about 4200 miles. Normally, i'm right on at 3000 miles. However, a couple days before I brought it in it started idling rough (shaking) and between 1000-2000 rpms. The check engine light came on and stayed on.

When i got my oil changed, they told me I needed to change the plugs and they could do it for $360! I decided to change them myself, especially at that price. Being my first time, it took me a few hours but wasn't a big deal other than getting at the back one on drivers side. After changing them, still got the code. I then changed out the coil pack, and i'm still getting the same code.

It seems to do it primarily on cold starts (overnight or after a few hours of sitting) and goes away after driving about 10 minutes. It will happen intermittently when idling at stop signs/lights. I've read some other posts about replacing fuel injector and possibly carbon build up. I don't know if it would be carbon build up as I drive primarily highway (50 of the 60 miles a day). I was going to try some Lucas Oil cleaner to see if that helps to be on the safe side.

Not sure where to go from here as I'm trying to troubleshoot the issue myself. I might have to just bring it to the dealer, which i'm trying to avoid since my extended warranty ran out at 70K (of course)!

Any thoughts? ideas? (other than being told to get a bigger hammer!)

Moved this to 3rd gen Ram for you (2002-2008 Dodge Rams).

Just a reference for the future... please only post your question once, not multiple times in multiple places. Welcome to DF!

Here is a PDF for a 2006 5.7 P0306 I printed from Mitchell OnDemand for you. The link is only good for 7 days so download it and see if it helps

Did you ever get your issue resolved? What was it if you did fix it? I have similar problem with my 05 Ram, went through the same steps as you but still have the problem.

Sounds like a coil issue.
