Smile Tailgate "Spoiler"

Heya..

So I used to have my ReTrax bed cover on my 1500 and it sealed up nicely against the tailgate 'spoiler'. I now have a 3500 without that piece of plastic and it lets water in..

Does anyone know how much the part is worth and if it'd be any more complex than tapping a few holes in my tailgate to accommodate it? OR are there other options?

i have no idea what it takes to install one, shouldnt be too hard. they are between $80 to $100 so if you find one less then that its a good deal.

Yeah they are expensive. The front side has double sided tape and the rear has the screws holding it on. To do it right, You will want some nutserts. You can pick the kit up at the dealership or you may find them online. But you can just put some self tapping screws but they look bad and will back out.

would the part from a bed cover that covers the tailgate take up the extra space?
I have a RE-TRax, and my bed cover raised the re-trax up a tad, the tailgate portion of the bed cover filled in the gap.

I think what you are talking about is basically what I'm trying. On the 1500, there was a bit of pressure up on the retrax. I cannot move the retrax rearward any further or I have a gap at the front and the stored cover is not properly supported.

Any other suggestions?

As far as holding the spoiler on, the bolts only pull out over time and cause problems, after many attempts to tighten them, and have them stay tight i simply used siliconed it on the underside. Has never moved once and looks totally stock.
