I got a code of P1491 and mechanic said it was aux. emission control unit, can't find that any place online.

Welcome to the forum. I don't think the 5.7 was available until 03. Is it a 4.7 or 5.9 perhaps?
If I'm not mistaken, that is incorrect.
P1491 Radiator Fan Ctrl Relay Circ
This controls the electric fan on the a/c condenser next to the radiator.
Check your fuses, the relay and the motor itself.
