No and no.
You cant just replace the PCM on an 03 for an 04 to be able to take advantage of 04 and above software/programming etc.
03's have seperate PCM's and TCM's.
Later model years have them incorporated.
The wiring looms etc are not therefore compatable and although not impossible to modify, (anything is when you throw money at it isn't it) it's probably easier to just trade her in and go buy a later year model truck.
It's that difficult.

BTW if you have an 03.....have you done the TCM mod yet?
It's free and really firms up the 1-2 and 2-3 WOT shifts by removing the torque management control.

In my opinion the '05 reigns supreme as far as computer functions. The '04 is a hell of an improvement but the '05 gives way more tranny tuning control.
I think they went computer overboard starting with the '06s with the TIPM, I'm no fan of MDS and I prefer a torsion front if I had to live with an IFS, so even though I have an '04, my personal favorite Ram 1500 would be the '05.

I've been running it for over 15k miles with no ill effects in my autobox.
I believe there's people on here that have been running around far far longer than that.
Do a search for the TMR mod and youll find lots of posts.
It's very much worth it and the beauty of it is.......it's free.....except for a little of your time.
