Default Remote starter systems

I have a 2003 Ram qc 4x4 with a 5.7 hemi in it. I went to the dealership and wanted a remote starter installed. They said the remote can only be put on the 2004 and up. Wonder why. Very dissapointed. What is different with the 2003? Anybody know. We live in climates that ranges from -40F to + 105Deg F. Curious!!!!! Did I mention the dark interior???
Thanks[IMG]

We wanted to put a remote starter in our Explorer as well, but I forgot the reasons why it wouldn't work. It was a while ago.

You might want to post this in the third generation Ram forum to get better results =)

Good question. Maybe it wasn't offered on that model year so a plug-in type system isn't available. Get a second opinion.

Maybe from the dealership it wont work for some reason, but an aftermarket one will. I have a 02 Ram...I have a remote starter in it. I didnt have it done by a dealership either...
Take your business out of the dealership...you'll get what you want.

true that. on mine there is a 1 year warranty on the installation of the remote starter, and then the manufactures warranty on parts. my warranty is already done with dodge, because i already hit 36 months and 36k miles.

You don't want it done at the dealership anyway.. I've got an '04 Ram 1500 4x4 and was quoted "$650 installed" at my dealer.. [:-] There are much better aftermarket remotes out there, with all the bells and whistles, for half that kinda money.. I've been doing my homework on remote starters and alot of people here seem to like the offerings from DEI.. I'll provide a link to their website.. They've got a search feature to see who, in your area, carries and installs them..

Directed Electronics

And, for the record, the dealership gets a huge markup on the parts they sell and/or install.. If I was really **** about not wanting to void any warranties, I could get the OEM remote start from a website like *This One (click here)*.. Then, take it to the dealership for a "labor only" install and save myself at least $200.. [sm=insomnia.gif]
