Trans fried!
Anyone ever fry their transmission in a 2003 Ram 2500 with a 5.7? I just found out mine's fried and on it's way out the door! Good thing I decided to have it checked before I went out West with it pulling a trailer. That may have sucked!
I have the stock Trans cooler on it from the factory and was told that was good enough for it. I have 64,500 miles on it, and yes I just use it to pull mostly. I used to pull a four place inclosed trailer in winter but that was the most. Im having the shop that is going to do the work on it beef it up as best as possible. Do you think I need another trans cooler on it? I bought a Mag tech trans pan for it with extra capacity. What are your thoughts?
Thanks

**** happens man. Although I read on a lot of forums and I gotta be honest it doesn't seem to matter what brand, if the half ton trucks get used for towing a lot it seems to lead towards issues down the road.. Not big ones but certain things that someone who uses their 1500 for occasional work wouldn't deal with.
Although kudos to you for not making a thread bitching about how much your truck sucked or something.. Cheers

No, it doesn't pay to complain since in my book all brands suck in their own way. It is a mechanical machine and isn't perfect so things like this do happen. At least it should be like new now!
There are several sites out there that specialize in 545rfe build-ups that could potentially be a lot better than a local chop that does general repairs or rebuilds

You can get the 1 ton cooler but the bigger Q is do you need it? And the only way to answer that is to watch and know what your trans temps are when you are towing. You also have 75-140w gear oil in the rear diff for towing right?
75-90 is for normal usage and 75-140 is for towing
