Post 2004 Hemi shake n vibrates

Recently the trucks been shaking and vibrating when accelerating at around 30mph. Vibration is felt throughout the truck but it's not coming from steering wheel. It would also stop vibrating as soon as I let go of the gas paddle. Any advise? U-joint, driveshaft, or something else? No engine light or code. Had tires rebalanced and that didn't help? Any ideas?

There are 8 u joints in this truck. I will check them all, but I think it's the ones on the driveshaft. Any thoughts? There is a u joint directly under the driver seat that looks like it won't come out, and the whole unit will need to replace, what is that?

Just changed all 16 spark plugs and wires, and it didn't help. At least the old plugs were looking bad. That took 4+ hours.

I recently had the same thing....whole front end would shimmy and hum over 40mph....turned out to be wheel bearing. I also didn't feel anything in the steering wheel.

It's amazing the range of answers/suggestions I have gotten from different shops. The best and most firm answer came from the dealer parts supervisor. Without a doubt he say rear U-joint is going. When gas is applied, it pulls the truck slightly shifting the angle of the driveshaft of rear u-joint. That explains why it smooths out the second gas is released.

He has a 2005 Ram, and he spoke with confidence. I went and purchased both u-joints and plan on doing the job sometime next week. $25 each with grease fitting from Napa Auto.

Sounds good to anyone else???

Any resolution on your problem? Sounds to be what I am experiencing as well.

So what did you find out afte replacing the U-joints, mine is doing the exact same thing, only occurs under acceleration and goes away if i take off the accelerator, or set the cruise...it shakes ***** to the walls or just subtle acceleration

I had my rear driveshaft u-joint fail, with the same symptoms you are experiencing. I tried pressing it out without success and ended up cutting it out with a torch. Make sure you mark the position of the drive shaft to rear differential to maintain balance. Buy greasables, I see you have done that. Good luck!

Sorry for MIA. I did the job myself with the Tiger Tool. I took a bunch of photos and posted it on YouTube as well. This site won't let me post a URL so search "replacing rear axle u joint, dodge ram 2500" on YouTube my user name there is "macplee". A the end of the video there's a link to a web site where I supplied detail instructions step by step. I hope it will help some people.

Good luck.
