traction bars?
im dropped 4-6, and i have the same problem, if i mash it from anything under 30 itll eat the tires up, and tires are startin to get expensive haha and on top of that a prius could beat me off the line cause ill be sittin there untill i let off
Honestly, look into some caltracs and wider rear tires, the 305's made one hell of a difference over the 275's, I've been there and worked through it and that is what made the difference, then work on your launch. Light to light I dont go much over 1/2 throttle and its still quicker than a whole lot of cars on the road. If I do go WOT its after about 40mph (so by the time I am accross the intersection
) Its no fun to have a fast vehicle if you cant play without going sideways

Not taller tires, wider tires, and as long as they give you traction and you are not sitting there spnning then no they wont slow you down any in fact they should make you a good deal quicker, mine are 31.5" tall and 305 is the width. If you went with some AT tire or swamper type tire then yes the added weight will kill your times.
For the gears, definitly a noticable difference. the 4.56's will make your tires shread even faster though with your lowend cam and higher stall converter. My comp 268 is a mid to top end cam so the 4.56's and the 2800 stall help my lowend and get me into the meat of my powerband faster. They do however have this nice benefit of a little bit better gas mileage though.

Well i also have about 500lbs less weight than you do and my cam has been fine tuned as far as fuel trims go. Haven't realy done any 1/4 mile times since my cam was installed. Was running mid 14s in full street trim before it so it should be in the 13s now.
For your truck though, right now you need to get it to hook before you do anything else. Having gobs of power/tq is useless if you can get it to the wheels and use it
