Default GAS CAP 3d Gen Ram

2007 Ram 1500 4.7 flex, just had the fuel pump replaced, now the every time I start up the dash is displaying gas cap, never had a gas cap go bad on a vehicle I've owned, but with this truck who knows? I replaced the gas cap, the display is still saying gas cap. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks
BG

Might have an emissions leak. My 07 hemi mega cab is displaying same thing. Tried clearing it. No success. Have gone threw a few tanks since it started. Really don't wanna take it to stealership but as I understand it, that's our only option.

Dodge uses cheap hoses and the cheesiest hose clamps I've ever seen. Check my EVAP SYSTEM MAP in the FAQ section, trace the evap system lines, I would bet you'll find a cracked hose or busted clamp somewhere. Look around the canister first.

Hose is cheap, under $1 a foot and good clamps are around 50 cents at the auto parts store...

The computer isn't smart enough to decipher multiple problems that can happen from the same line. Chyrylser programmed the gas cap message to be displayed if there was to be an evap leak that doesn't keep the tank pressurized. Otherwords, it's the most common problem to happen for throwing that code which a customer can take care of themselves.
Do as Hammer speaks. That hose is always a problem. dry rot and cracking at the elbow.
