Default 06 Ram Tranny Problem

I am once again having trouble with the transmission in my 2006 Ram 1500 HEMI with approx 105,000 miles.
About 2 months ago i noticed a whinning noise coming from the transmission...took it to the shop where they dropped the pan and replaced both filters and replaced the fluid...this eliminated the noise.
The mechanic told me he found a small amount of metal shavings on the "screen" filter but did not see any other major problems.

My driveway is slightly sloped down towad the house...Tonight when I put the truck in reverse to back out it seemed to shift into reverse "softly" and rolled forward when i let off the brake (It usually will roll up the drive at idle)...did not think much of it...
Then I was out and noticed a high pitched noise when accelerating...then very delayed shifts...followed by the trans fluid temp light coming on (this was after driving about 10 miles).
I drove it to a service station and on the way noticed rough shifting/delayed shifting/and no OD...also while attempting to slow or stop for a traffic light it did not seem to want to down shift so I had to put it in Neutral when stopping.

When i got it parked...checked the trans fluid level and it seemed to be fine...let it sit for approximately 30 minutes; started it up and the trans fluid temp light was no longer on but it went into reverse and drive extremely rough...and still had rough/delayed shifting.

Does this sound like the Torque Converter is not working properly or does it sound like the tranny itself is shot? Thanks for any help

Are you getting any CELs? You may decide to srop the pan and check the filters and the o-ring that goes on the base of the flat filter because if it leaks you will see shifting issues.

im with weed on this one, check your filters. if they arent seated right, your pump wont be getting enough fluid. could potentially cause all of your problems.

I ended up breaking down and took the truck to the shop to have it checked out...of course when it was there everything worked as it should and they could not find any problems with it...fluid and filters in good shape.

The problem seemed to have gone away until tonight when leaving work I put the tuck in drive and it stalled out but started right back up; put it in drive again and it jolted a little bit but stayed running
I drove it a short ways put it back in park...then put it in reverse and it once again stalled out. It stalled 3 times...each time going from park to either drive or reverse...and each time it started right back up with no problem.
After driving a few miles I tested it again and it shifted from park to reverse and drive very smoothly.

Could it be that the torque converter clutch is not working properly?

It could but I dont see that happening when only going from P to R. The TCC should even be locking up at that point.

Ok, this is getting very frustrating...when i put the truck in gear sometimes the rpms will drop very low to the point where it feels like it is going to stall but then the RPMs jump back up and all seems normal...other times i put it in gear and it stalls out.
I can get it moving by putting it in gear and quickly getting on the gas (it will shudder but will get going)...when moving everything seems fine until I need to stop.
When i stop the same thing happens as when i put it in drive...sometimes it will drop RPMS, shudder and even out and other times it simply dies when i stop.

So far I have tried cleaning the trottle body, changing transmission fluid and filters, I even replaced the solenoid pack in the transmission

It has been to 2 different shops already and they cannot seem to figure it out...I am getting tired of throwing money at this thing

Just to clarify, on the trans filters, you did replace the o-ring in the valve body that the flat filter slides up into right? Ans you did use the single screw to hold the flat filter in place right?

Alright guys...I really need help now. The propblem got to a point where I could not even drive the truck...It would stall anytime it was in gear and not moving. (Similar to driving a 5 speed with no cluth)

The torque converter ended up going out. Now I have had the torque converter replaced, the trans completely overhauled, the solenoid pack relaced, and of course fresh fluid and filters (I made sure he used Mopar filters from the dealer due to a report I read about the aftermarket trans filters).

The problem I am having now is delay going from park or Neutral to drive. It takes 5-10 seconds before drive will engage. The mechanic who rebuilt it thinks it might be a computer problem and he is taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have what he called a "quick re-learn" done and check it for updates.
My question is does this delayed engagement of drive sould like it could be a problem with the computer?
