Alignment/Camber Washer
Hi All,
new member to the forum here. So I went to Sears today to get an Alignment on my truck. They informed me that they would not be able to align the truck because I needed to replace the CAM. Does this sound right to anyone? I dont know what a CAM is or where it is located on my truck.

What he is referring to is an eccentric bolt set to replace the bolt in the upper control arms. These bolts are called "cam bolts". Supposedly they provide a few extra degrees of adjustment to adjust camber and are really popular with crowds that lower their cars. All the alignment techs I ever run across on the many forums I frequent say that they are not needed, and its only a way for the business to make money and have the tech be lazy at the same time. IDK. Im at the point where whenever I buy a different vehicle Im just going to buy a set of eccentrics and put them on myself, as a set costs around $50 and the gotdarn shops I have used that put them on charge an obscene amount of money to change 2 bolt. I needed a set on my previous Sentra, and on the passenger side of my Ram. Sears did one, Chabills did the other, and on my brothers truck Goodyear installed a set and they all charged between $30 and $50 to replace.
