sun visor problem.

Angry sun visor problem.

my passenger side sun visor on my 03 dodge ram will not stay up at all, my drivers side is about to give up too, anyone else with this problem? anybody have any advice how to fix it?

Take the mounting cover off and check if the screw inside is tight or possibly stripped. It should hold a leaf spring which puts the tension on the rod when rotated from the "home" position.

Maybe the spring needs a little bend in it to put it back to spec so to speak.

After about 5 years I had the same problem on my 2003 Ram as well. In fact both driver and passenger hinges became so weak that small bumps would cause them to drop into my line of vision. Not good.

However, when I finally took the truck to the dealer (original dealer that I purchased it new from in 2003) I found out it was considered to be a parts design defect and I was provided with both left and right visors at no charge.

I asked how much they would have cost as a retail purchase and the rep said about $20 each (can't remember exactly). The cost was apparently so low since it was a known issue (I would assume). Hopefully, the price is still the same.
