leveling kit shock feedback
So I just ordered my Daystar 2" coil spacer from performancelifts.com and the sales guy mentioned that with either stock length 1500 shocks or the roughly 2" longer shocks for a 2500 ram I'm going to have some kind of problem.
Stock length shocks will be very stiff due to them being fully extended at all times and not being able to handle the additional travel.
2500 ram shocks will cause the upper control arm to contact the frame even over minor bumps and obstacles. Seeing as the control arm is aluminum and the frame is steel I imagine the two coming together under load regularly isnt a very good idea.
Basically I wanna hear from other people with a 2" spacer installed to see what type of shocks they are using and any feedback regarding handling, suspension travel, ride quality, etc.
Thanks in advance

When you say it rides terrible and clunks, do you mean with the stock shocks?
I have a 2005 Quad cab
Anyone with the Daystar kit running the 2" longer Ram 2500 shocks?
Performancelifts.com recommends the Rancho RS5000 for the Ram 2500 but they said that the extended length shock absorber will cause the upper control arm to make contact with the frame. He went on to say that this can happen with as little as a pothole, speedbump at low speed, etc. I just wanna get some feedback from people that actually run this type of setup.

The UCA and spring bucket contact is more of a problem with 06-08. I havent really heard alot of people complaint about it with your year. I know with my 07, the ride is about like he said
Longer shocks are not reccomended with 06-08 because it limits suspension travel but they do say you need them with the earlier models, ive seen a few guys rip the shock apart trying to use stock shocks. He is right about the 2500 shocks being 2in longer

You missed a goo deal if you already bought some spacers. There is a set of 2.5 Daystars for sale on DT right now.
Either way, 2" spacers on an 05 isnt going to hit the UCA. 3+ would do it though.

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately I had already ordered the spacers when I saw this last post and they are on the way to Hawaii as we speak. I also picked up a pair of Dodge Ram 2500 Bilstein HD shocks for the front and a full set of 265 70 17 BFG AT KO tires to replace my crappy 245 BFG Long Trails.

Will look tons better with front end lifted. I installed 2" hockey pucks on my 2002 (same suspension as yours) with no "bucket slapping". I think that is a problem more isolated to the 06-08. I kept the shocks I had as they were only a couple months old when I decided to level. Just after leveling they would top out, but I was able to add 1" of washers under the bottom bushing to help the travel a bit. That did the trick and I have had no problems and the truck really dosent ride any different then it did before.
