Default Will straight pipes damage my motor?

I currently have a dual chamber flowmaster on my Hemi and it sounds pretty good, but I was a little disappointed by the sound. My 2000 F150 sounded better with a 4.6 liter motor. I was thinking about buying a Flowmaster super 10 or even running straight pipes. Will running straight pipes hurt my motor in any way?

nope, but I'm sure your california emissions tester will love you if you straight piped it.

Flows suck anyways...any other choice is better but it sounds like you just want loud. Straight piping it would suck too soundwise besides robbin the motor of low end power. Where in Cali do you live?

You will slightly lose on the bottom end but gain flow on upper end. You'll gain on top end what you lose on bottom(truckin151? I believe lost 3rwhp when using his cut-out vs aftermarket catback)(which would NOT be dronemaster because ALL chambered mufflers flow terrrible.
I ran my 2000 Silverado straigh piped for the 4years I had it. It was raw and loud. Here in NY, there is no dB check so as long as your not leaking infront of the cats you pass. Don't even need a muffler, but you can still get a ticket for a noisey exhaust. Pretty stupid how things are set up.
Anyways, being in cali, you'll grab lots cop attention and I doubt you would pass inspection?
Get yourself a cut-out if you want raw/loud and still have a fairly quiet truck to pull in your driveway at 3am or pass by a cop. You'll still need to pull the cut-out off for inspection purposes or you'll fail. You can even get a ticket in Cali for having a cut-out on your truck even if it's not being used. Same with LT headers. So I have been told...

I've got magnaflow. had it on my mustang, was very pleased with both round and oval bodied. The Mag sounds just as good on my Ram. It's an 18" polished oval body that came with my catback. Save yourself the $550 they are getting for the catbacks and get and have a shop throw pipes out the side for ya. Shouldn't cost you $250 total. I wanted stainless because mild steel would rust out in no time here in NY. Flowmasters are aluminized mild steel and rust out in 3yrs here.

You want loud AND good flow, then get you something like a Cherry Bomb Extreme or a Borla XR-1.

Flowmasters sound ok, but their CFM rates are horrible, plus they rust inside of two years on average...

I pretty much went 'the best of both worlds' (at least for me)...I did true duals all the way to a 22" magnaflow (3" dual in/3.5" single out) and dumped it after axle. I wanted performance, not loud. I wanted to be stealthy, just a little louder then stock. I wanted flow, but not lose low-end (my 60 ft and 1/8th times prove that)...AND, if I wanted loud, just open the cutouts...

Nice setup fred, I looked hard at the Maggy when I re-did my setup. Would have complemented my LT headers nicely, but I guess in my early 40's I need to keep a grip on my younger side and did the Cherry Bomb, LOL.

I was actually surprised at idle it's quite tame, probably not as loud as my old Flowmaster 50, but when you touch the gas, LOUD is an understatment...

I live in Orange County Ca. and yes I wanted to be loud as possible but not at the expense of any kind of power loss. My Hemi-powered Mega Cab already suffers from under power although a friend of mine and myself are putting in 4.56 gears very soon. The Cherry Bomb sounds like a winner, thanks Hammer. Is it street legal because the site said off-road and racing applications. Also do you know if it has alot of drone, my flowmaster has a very loud drone to it and it can get a little annoying.

dumping it will lose the drone (unless you are a fan of showing your pipes), and in my 50's now, I want it very quiet in the cab, listen to my radio without crankin it up...and then when the urge comes out, open the cutouts. As for emissions, find a smog shop that just cares about the sniffer test. i didn't remove my cutouts and just clamped on a tip for smog test. Also, when I had the tip on, it droned pretty loud in the cab as opposed to no drone when I took it off..

You want the Vortex, the sound is very close to that of the Extreme, but it's street legal in real picky inspection states. Flow rate is among the best out there...
