Same here. I have been wondering the same thing since I moved last December. Im not running hot either. It's just below the cold fill. I'm sure over time we have to top off due to use and evaporation. I don't know where to find this coolant except for dealership. It looks like the orange dex kind at auto zone but not according to manual.

if you are not leaking coolant on the ground guys then you are using it internally and burning it. You might not notice smoke if it is ever so slight. 4.7's are bad about having blown head gaskets or cracks on the heads.

It's imperative that you change the coolant with the RIGHT coolant and I do it MORE OFTEN than the book calls for on my Grand Cherokee (4.7 HO). If you've ever seen a cutaway view of this engine, the coolant lines are VERY close to the cylinder walls and it don't take a lot of eroding from bad coolant to make it there.

That's one reason why you not only tend to lose the head gasket, but the heads as well if you let a 4.7 overheat.

Good engine, but you can't let oil sludge up or the thing to have a coolant system issue...
