Default RPM problem on 06 Ram

2006 Dodge Ram 5.7 Hemi 60,100 miles

I have read a lot of the post on here trying to figure out what is wrong with my truck. Just curious if anyone and lead me in another direction.

After driving the truck for about 2 miles and stopping at a red light the RPM's will drop from the normal at rest 600 to200 and sometimes even lower to cause the truck to stall. I have replaced the EGR valve, cleaned the throttle body and also put in a new optima yellow top battery. Still having the same problem except now my lights are dimming and RPM dropping while at a stop light. It has not died since I cleaned the throttle body but does drop RPMS and have seen it hit 0 and jump back up to 600.

Took from paddy better explanation:
So Ive noticed that when im at idle my rpms can go anywhere from 200-600.

Sometimes it will be a steady 500 or a steady 200, other times it will bob back and forth and back and forth. What could be causing this?

Also I just started my truck up in a parking lot, came to a stop sign and stalled when I came to a stop.

Truck is a ram 1500 06 5.7 thanks mates!

Also I am not getting a CEL

Thanks in advance for any advice. I am lost.

I am also not getting any codes to check. Check engine light has never come on.

Plugs are still good. replaced not to long ago.

Was the issue present BEFORE you replaced the battery? Optima is going thru hell with their batteries ever since being bought out by Johnson Controls.

A jeep forum I'm on actually has a "Dead Optima" thread and almost everyone with one has been purchased since JC bought them out and moved all the production to Mexico has "joined the club".

It could very well be that the battery is not strong enough to keep the truck up at low rpm...

Yes, problem started before I did all this. This is why I got on the forum and started to research and do all i could do before I asked for help.

Any battery recommendations. I have a small sound system and used to use optimas all the time. I did try a different battery before the optima and had he same problem.

Be sure to check the trans fluids. I doubt it is the plugs but if you are at 60k and never changed them then that should be on your list of things to do anyway. Also try resetting the PCM

If it was a bad o2 sensor wouldnt it give me a code. I will check that out as well. I find it odd that 2 people on this board have the same exact problem at the same time. Thanks again for the info
