Default Condenser fan fuse melting

I have a 2002 ram 1500 6 cyl. manual 2 wh/drv. The condenser fan fuse blew. After replacing it, it worked for about a year. The fuse then melted completely (thus ruining the fuse block). Wouldn't too much draw from the condenser fan just cause the fuse to blow again? Am I looking at maybe 2 problems, 1 - bad condenser fan, and 2 - bad fuse block?

Has anyone run into this. I can replace the fuse block (lots of money), but I want to fix the cause of the meltdown.

any help please.

You can hit the salvage yards for that IPM. They're not VIN locked in 2002. Just make sure it has the same package or check the part number on the side of it. Don't forget to also check that PN on the front control module (the little silver box mounted to it)

As for current draw spec, I don't have access to that info, However let me reference a TSB from that year model. TSB 08-002-03 for condenser fan elctrical issue. Maybe if you call Chrysler they will help you out. They have been doing a motherload of goodwill repairs lately. 2002 might be a stretch but I have done a few 2004--2005.<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width=10></TD><TD vAlign=top width=70 noWrap></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I have a 2002 ram 1500 too that the condenser fan fuse melts. I replaced it and connection is loose. When I move the fuse so that the fan will turn on, there are sparks and starts heating up. Can I rewire and use another fuse connection on the board that is not being used? Will that solve the problem. Appreciate the help!

I would check to see if there is a recall active on that. Sounds like current exceed the rating of the fuse holder. Sparks cause heat - causes melting.

HERE is one source.....there may be a link here on DF also...not sure.

Also, if you got to top of page here, you can go to UserCP and Edit Signature...enter info on your truck so we will all know and you don't have to repost it all the time.

Welcome to DF.

Default Any other info on this Problem?

I have this same problem. Except I am broke and can not afford a new TIPM. Fuse slot #39 is melted to crap. CEL is on. I was sold a lemon in march. The lot got me good, sold me a truck with no coolant and it just went down hill from there. Now the only 2 things I care to do for a better ride until the motor blows is fix my windshield and the short in the condenser relay..?
If I replace the fuse or wiggle the one in it, the fan comes on and I can clear the CEL and it stays off until I hit a random bump in the road or it gets hot enough to melt the fuse again.
Dealer wants nearly a grand for a new TIPM, ebay 700.00, local wrecking yard wants 450.00. All 3 are out of my budget and still doesn't fix the cause.
Can I do anything to get by? AKA silicone something or drill holes for something to drain ie: anything?
