Hey i have a 2003 Ram 1500 quad cab 4X4 4.7 engine. When i start it up when it is cold it sounds like a ticka ticka or diesel like for like a minute or so. I have put the link to the video too. Please let me know if you have any ideas what this may be. I am running 5W30 Mobile 1 with a WIX filter. I have tried 3 different filters and 3 different oils with the same result. it looks like the Manifold bolts are good and i see no carbon build up. Any help would be great.

this is the truck and the noise!!!

 

From what I have read, it is the timing chain tensioners. Might try searching for 4.7 noise and see what ya find.

 

could actually be the exhaust manifold gaskets that are leaking too.

 

I would think excessive valve train wear and noise as my first thought. Exh manifold and gaskets are more of an issue on 5.7s and it could still be possible on a 4.7 as well.
