been a while since i've been on here, but it's about time to change the plugs on my 07 1500 5.7 hemi. Bought the truck with 37k on the clock and now have about 59k, if i remember correctly the manual recommends changing them every 15k miles. What plugs are u guys runnin these days that might give better performance than stock, or maybe extend the mileage btwn changing them. When i changed them last time, seemed like most said stay away from platinum's and just stick with the oem plugs. Should i just stick with oem, what other plug would be recommended for the hemi? Such a pain changin all 16 of these little bastadsl

 

I'm doing mine today was going to go with some NGK IX iridiums but had sone other issues that my truck needed taken care of so I'm just doing straight OEM style coppers NGK V-Power 5306. iridiums will last you longer between changes I believe, but with little or no performance gain. rockauot has them for 6 and change each for the IX's. V-powers run abou 2 fifty.

 

I always just stayed with Champion copper plugs. 121,000 miles and doing just wonderful.

 

My 2004 manual recommends every 30K miles.

 

The interval is 30K, but they'll usually go 50K without too much problem. I use NGK 5306s in both my Hemis.

 

I just changed mine and i put in the champion copper plus read some posts on here that platinum plugs make the truck run worse didn't want to find out the hard way plus im cheap and i put about 110,000km on them

 

The top 8 should be copper at 30k intervals, the lower 8 can be platinum or iridium at higher intervals ( not every 30k ).

The Hemi does not have "top" or "bottom" plugs. They're side by side, all sixteen are the same plug, all changed at the same interval. Platinums are not recommended.

 

On my 07' the plugs are side by side and both under a coil pack. Earlier years may have been designed differently.

I changed mine at 36k miles and the original plugs looked fine. NGK V plugs times 16.

My one friend has an 03' and changed his at 53k and they were not that bad.

My friend with an 05' did his at 30k and again at 70k , both looked fine.

30k initially......and then with better plugs it looks to be safe to go slightly longer, YMMV.

 

Ok, I guess I have it wrong. I don't have a hemi so I went from what I had read but was backwards. By upper and lower, I guess it refers to the one under the coil and the one NOT under the coil. Obviously this design has since changed, and as I said I was wrong, the one under the coil should be copper, the " other" one can be platinum or iridium from what I had read it can go 100k miles.
