Default rear end.

well my dad is a new owner of a 02 1500 and today i was driving it and i was hearing a strange humming coming from the rear end, and i went out and applied for a job and came home and now the rear end is spilling 90w everywhere and its barely catching,so my question is, did i completely screw up the rear end is could it be something simple?

Im assuming with it being an 02 that it has a lot of miles. That means you likely do not know how it has been driven or taken care of. With that being said, it is now time to pull the rear diff cover, clean it all out and inspect everything carefully.

yeah, its got 160k and it used to be a kids truck, so god only know what this thing has been through., but anyways i called a wrecker to get it towed to the stealership and the rear end locked up as he was pulling it on the truck, so now my dad has a big bill to pay, or like he said if its to expensive, return the truck.

Do a search in this section for "C-Clip" and READ.

Known issue with these trucks with factory LSD. If it's locked and seeping fluid, the diff is probably shot...
