Outside inlet is in the black plastic vents around the windshield wipers.

Put a set of gauges on it and check the freon, or put sum dye into it and get a pair of uv glasses and light and check for leaks ..... I had the same prob on my silverado turned out i had a small leak inside the cab

BP makes a product called frigi clean which is a foam spray to clean your evaporator coil, and another called frigi fresh to help eliminate the odor afterwards ( or used on it's own for a wee bit of help).

From what I found searching you can buy it online or at some dealers.

I'm trying to find some here in Ontario.

I don't know if this will help but my buddy recently had a mouse family nesting in his fan box. When he cut it on he chopped everybody pretty good and with the heat they stunk the thing up pretty good when he turned the fan on any setting not just AC. Ford stealer got him for 400 to take it apart and clen it out.
