Keep your original cover. Go ahead and give it a shot. If you don't like the outcome, put the original cover back on it and try again later. There is nothing more satisfying than doing something yourself. The hardest part will be finding a latch. Like I said before, Chrysler wants $169 for a latch because they only sell it with the top half of the console. Check out some of your local junk yards and see if they have a Dodge you can pull the latch off of. You can also check ebay, there is a guy on there parting out an 04. Send him an email and see if he has the latch. Your customizing is only limited by your budget. I'd give it a shot. I'm thinking about covering my console with leather real soon. I'll let you know how it goes.
