Default 03 1500 Trans hard down shifting

I have an 03 1500 QC with 26000 miles on it. I just got the truck from a dealership. The truck sat for a long time in a barn and wasn't used. Everything works great on the truck, but it's shifting hard right before coming to a stop. It also shifts hard into second gear if you get on her from a stop. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is there a fix without going to a dealer? I have a warranty but it sounds like most of the dealers want to look at it and run all sorts of test that will cost me before a repair is made.

How many miles have you put on it since you got it? Try resetting the PCM and after that i would drop the pan and inspect everything and change fluids and filters.

I agree with weed. reset the PCM by pulling the battery terminals off and touching the cables together for ~20 sec. them check trans fluid levels. if your still having problems time for a pan drop and fluid swap + filters.

Make sure you read the DIY in the FAQ section on the trans filter replacement to make sure you get the filters and associated o ring seated properly so you aren't dropping the pan again 3 days later to fix it. it's a dirty job the first time you drop the pan, and it usually doesn't get any cleaner (unless you get a different pan or install a plug) so do it right the first time.

Thanks guys!! The PCM reset seems to be working great. I'm about to do a fluid and filter change this weekend.

Wouldn't it have been reset after sitting for years in a barn?

So much for my "low mileage" 03 at 76k!
