Default auto alarm

looking into slapping an alarm on my truck but the local shops are trying to rape me on the install since i don't have power locks ... i know i can put the alarm on without the locks but i'd like to have the luxury of not having to use my key after i disarm the alarm ... my question is if i get the shop to do the alarm which i can get for $150 installed ... how hard is it to add on the door actuators myself and connect them to the alarm as well ... i have found them on the net for as cheap as $10ea. ... ideas?

I would have them do it so that the install is gauranteed. I don't know much about them but i'm sure it requires a wire from the actuator to the brian of the alarm system. I had the place put actuators on mine and they are working pretty well... now if I could only get power windows.

i can do a ram in about an hour but i really don't suggest you try...most alarm companies won't warranty anything unless a pro does it.

I put the Mopar alarm on mine and it was pretty simple, but have the power locks. I agree with the other guys that without the power locks unless you're pretty good and have done a few, you'll probably want it done by a pro.

Mill500, I too am interested in putting an alarm (and remote starter) on my new RAM 1500 - I have power locks. Could you please tell me the part number is for your Mopar alarm. It would be great if you could provide a link to it (if you have it bookmarked), otherwise I'll just google it.

Thanks.

awesome! nice kit ... definitely considering it ... but it seems like according to the write up that they assume you already have/had power door locks or the switches for them ... or am i misreading that?
