BE Warned... Security of your Ram...
Mine was ripped off. Apperitly in the Detroit area the Ram is one of the highest vehicle stolen around!! They got mine at lunch time right our in my parking lot. From what I gather these trucks can be swipped in under a minute. Mine was done in at least that given the people who were in and out of our office. I don't want to say how they did it to give anything away to prospective scum that linger out there. They found Ol Blue in that sewer called Detroit... In pretty good shape with everything factory intact. My personal stuff was gone though. All in all it is an example of a best case scenario for a recovered stolen vehicle. I don't have it back yet. They Dealership gets it next to change all fluids with a wheel allighnment.
So my question is this... I want to install a kill switch. Any good leads on what wire to splice into (preferably a ground lead) ? I am thinking a fuel pump switch or ignition/starter.

Since if it did not even turn over the thief would know to look for a switch.
I have heard good things about those locks that prevent the brake pedal from being pressed.

The factory sentry system shuts down the fuel pump. I had read earlier (months ago) of this and ordered mine with the security package. Yes the method is spelled out there. You are right, they can be highjacked in under 2 minutes, but not with the sentry syst.
HOPE EVERYTHING TURNS OUT OK !

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of it turning over and not starting. If nothing happened chances are they will start looking.
Thanks for the ideas all.
I saw the truck the other day. The body is complete. I had all badging and door side molding taken off. It's looken very smooth now. As soon as I get it back I will post a pic.

I have a Clifford alarm in mine; it works in conjunction with the factory alarm and sentry key. The Cliffords are pricey, but they make stealing your ride extremely difficult to do. They'd need a tow truck to steal mine.
Another option is the factory alarm/sentry key. Mopar does sell it separately. It's part number 82208985. Unless the thief is a real pro, he'll most likely pass up a sentry'd Ram.

Even though it would be a pain in the butt to have my truck stolen, they way I look at it is , if they want it they will get it, and they can have it. I have insurence, that is what it is there for. I don't keep anything of importance in my truck. I don't have an after market stereo, I don't even keep CD's in my truck. ( I know I'm one of the few.) If someone wants to steal it they can have it. I will just get another.

Insurance isn't necessarily a safe haven. My insurance has a waiting period of 30 days. If the vehicle was found within 30 days of it being ripped off then it becomes an issue of how much damage was done and the value of the vehicle. I didn't want my truck either but they found it early the next morning. I really wouldn't want it after 29 days passed... I ended up with an OK scenario were not much damage was done but that is not the case for most vehicles.
I see you were from Auburn Hills "bign1976". I invite you to drive on East Davison in Detroit to see all the ram truck rims availible for sale along the road. I then invite you to to drive a block over to see the trashed ram trucks with no rims. I continue to invite you to drive to see the holding lots were the towing companies hold the stolen vehciles and see the "sea of rams" there... it wasn't a pretty site to see when I picked up mine.
Bottom line is make sure your insurence is what you want OR minimize the pain (theft prevention) of of what I went through (and more so with other more unfortionate victims) to repair the truck. I am seeing the wisdom of prevention then depending on insurance companies.

truck got stolen today from my drive, I woke up at 3:30am for my midnight snack and looked out the front window (as I usualy do when I get up during the night) to see my 2005 Ram 4x4 sitting peacfully in my drive. After my snack I went back to bed and woke up at 5:30am to go to work and noticed an empty spot in drive where my truck just was 2 hours earlier. No glass no nothing!!! I live in Eastpointe just outside Detroit. My truck had under 1,500 miles on it and I just mailed my first payment. I put 16,000 dollars down on my truck, now I have to worry about them finding and fixing my truck (to never run the same again I'm sure) or dealing with the insurance giving me a fair market value which will probably be less than what I paid. The police said that these trucks are a hot item to steal and my insurance rep said that they already have a few claims in there office of the same truck! I just got back cruising the highways looking for it on the shoulder of the road, No luck. It was on empty when it got stolen with only 10 miles left of the fuel gauge. I just put mopar running boards on it last week....This sucks bad!!!1
