What to do now that I have codes- Truck at shop now
Hi, I got the codes that go with the engine light. The truck is at the shop, but I dont want to be taken to the cleaners on stuff I have no clue about. The codes are as follows:
P0406-EGR POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH
P0339-CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INTERMITTENT
P0335-CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT
P0300-MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE
Now does the EGR have anything to do with the other issues? Should I just get that fixed? I have no idea what the crankshaft sensors do, but with those codes do they need to be replaced.
I would like to know so when they call me to tell me this is what I need done, I can come back and say that really I only need this done...

EGR and Crank Sensor both appear to be shot. The EGR is common at about 5 years or 40k miles (although I replaced mine at 50k and it still hadn't generated a CEL).
The Crank is just like any other sensor, you can get 20k out of one or 120k.
The Crank sensor would be a sure cause of the misfire CEL.
The dealer is probably gonna do you up the poop shoot without lube. But both parts are a single small socket set job and about 5 minutes per (10 if you've never done one). Just a simple unbolt, pop out, pop in & re-bolt procedure in both cases. These are both those kinda repairs that if you can change your own oil, you can do yourself. EGR is around $40 at auto parts store and the crank sensor should be just under $100.
The EGR couldn't be easier to get to in a Hemi, right on the passenger side front of the engine and the Crank sensor ain't too bad, it's just below the alternator on the right side...
