Default need windshield

Have a quick question. I have a 2002 1500 4x4, 4 door, that needs a windshield because of a major crack. A call to a well known chain tells me that it is different between 2 and 4 door, and the 4 door shows over 5 hours labour in the book! Anyone know if this is true? Or is the kid on the phone on real good drugs?

As far as I know the two door and four door should be the same...I got mine replaced from safelite auto glass, for $107 installed, only took them about an hour and they came to my house and did it on my drive way.

2002 was the year that the 1500's body changed and the 2500/3500 were the prior models style I believe?? It was talked about just last week so I should have retained that bit of info...lol. That might be whats getting the kid confused. As far as 2002 Ram 1500 difference from regular cab to quadcab...NONE as far as the windshield is concerned.

Yes. In 2002 the 1500 was new style, while the 2500/3500 used the old style. But I find it hard to believe that any windshield would take most pf the day to replace in a shop. Hell, the 2-piece in the Kenworth only takes a couple hours and that's with beers involved!

The only difference between the windshields is the third visor frit in the top center of the window, one should have it and one should not. The windshield does not take 5 hours to install, that is the amount of hours the insurance company gets billed for. It takes anywhere between 45mins to 1 1/2 to install.

and that's why I have an extra little bit I pay a month in my insurance (no more than 15, definitely worth it) for window replacement. Already used it twice.
