Default Air conditioner problems.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. When the weather is hot and I use the air conditioner the fan will shut off automatically after several minutes. I will turn the fan motor off on the dash, wait several minutes, turn back on. It will work for several minutes, and then shut off on its own. I repeat this with the same results. Any idead what the problem is? Thanks, Rich

Welcome to the group.

For a guess, I'd say the motor is being shut down by a thermal protector. Does it come back by itself?

No it does not. If I turn off the fan motor, wait several minutes, then turn the fan back on it, the fan will run for several more minutes, then shut off.
Thanks, Rich

Does the switch get hot? What happens if you don't wait, just turn it off/on?

The switch does not seem to get hot. If I leave the fan motor on after it switches off it will not turn back on. Only if I leave the switch off for several minutes. Is there a relay for the switch that I may be having a problem with? Thanks

I would say the motor is going bad. Does it do it on all speeds?
