How to Clean Contacts on back of TIPM 2007 Ram
Hi Folks, my 2007 RAM Mega Cab (120,000 km) has a re occuring issue. The contacts on the TIPM get corroded and my temperatre sensor on my over headconsole (tells the temp outside) reads incorrectly (usually 10 degrees off). Ive had other symptoms in the past too (A/C fan not turningoff, left turn signal bulb not functioning).
Dealer cleaned them and put some Electrostatic grease or some sort of corrosion protection on it on 2 occasions under warranty, once at 40,000km and againat 60,000km. Lasted pretty well till now.
This time Im thinking of cleaning it myself, anyone done it ?, is it easy?, i dont want to mess it up.
What is the "step by Step" way to do it. I need details if you can spare the time to type 'em out.
Im pretty handy, and very meticulous, so i like the detail insrutions.
also any recommended products to put on the contact pins ?
thanks in advance

The Dealers use some pretty nasty mesy stuff that eventually dries up hard as a rock...
Electrical cleaner in an aerosol can and then squirt Dielectric grease in there. That stuff lasts forever unless it's melted or washed away.
On the bottom of the tipm where the connectors are, there is a gated latch on each connector that needs to be flipped before you canu plug the connectors. They are color coded....pretty easy.

Thanks All, wasnt aware that they were supposed to be water tight sealed connectors.
Back in 2008/9 when it happened after only 40,000km (or less) Dealer told me it was pretty common, when I described the syptoms to them on the phone they knew immediately what it was and fixed it within 10 minutes of me arriving at the dealership.
Houseape, Ill look see if any part of the connector is allowing moisture/water in
I did wash my engine last week, although, TIPM was covers up with plastic bag, as was the altenator, I used a low pressure garden hose with a trickle of water, no high pressure what so ever. Im alwas careful to stay away from the TIPM, however maybe this was a trigger in someway, too coincidental in my mind. May be there are other connectors in the vicinity of the TIPM for the temp sensor that have gotten wet.
