Default shock bolt broke off in a arm** UPDATE**

Well i was changing shocks. I got to the passenger side front bolt and it broke right off. 2 easy outs later we are torching it out. Any body know the correct bolt size that is supposed to be in a 04 5.7 4X4. the drivers side had 8.8 stamped on it and the passenger side had 10. It looks like it was brokin already im guessing somebody put the wrong size bolts or different threaded bolt it. It was out the back a good inch. This sucks. I noticed the shock bushings were bad so i figured id replace the hole shock. This is not what i suspected.

Where do you live and can you just match it up with one you did get out successfully?

I live in MO . I matched up the heads and they look close the all the treads are in the a arm or tourched. I was just wondering which on was stock the one stamped 8.8 or the one stamped 10? I think the 8.8 is metric and the 10 is standard. Does that mean the threads are different also? If so that explains why its not coming out. Also does anybody know where I can get a used or cheap passenger side lower control arm if it comes to that? Thanks

Well all is good. Luckily my wifes uncle messed with it all day chisling and drilling. Id say the stock hole was about 90 percent. Her other uncle picked up matching 14mm bolts to the known drivers side good one good one. We made a tap out of one and the other one went in the previously broken hole flawlessly. If by some chance it loosens up ill just tap and use the next size up. And with four new shocks and sway bar end links my previous cluncking noise and vibration is gone. Now I'm in the middle of throwin a pisser. O by the way the 8.8 and 10 stamped on the bolt turned out to be the grade of the the bolt. Thanks

You need to take the time to download the Service Manual for your truck from my signature link
