Default HELP!!! Major electrical issues after alarm install

My son in law recently bought a 2008 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4. It has 36,000 original miles, and is in new condition. It appears nothing has ever been modified on it.

They currently live in Tulsa, but he just started a new job in Dallas, and has to be there by tomorrow morning.

While he was in Dallas last week, my daughter took the truck to have the windows tinted, and have an alarm system installed. It was supposed to take 2 days, the guy had it a week and a day.

It is an Autopage alarm system, which this guy has supposedly installed dozens of. When they picked the truck up yesterday, they noticed the tint didn't match, (he was supposed to put limo on the front windows, and darken the back to match), only when they got down the road a bit did they notice everything else that is messed up.

Here is a list of what doesn't work:
Fuel Gauge
Turn Signals
Brake Lights
Seat Belt Light
Cargo Lamp (doesn't work by switch, only when you open door)
OD/TOW indicator light
Hazzard Lights
Cruise Control.

Headlights will come on, but dimmer indicator doesn't work. Radio and A/C work. Power windows and locks work.

They took the truck back to him, he claims no bad fuses. Claims he talked to some Dodge technicians, and they said this is just stuff that sometimes happens to Dodge trucks, pretty common actually... Well, I've got a '95, two '96's, a '99 and an '01, used to have an '03- everything from 1500's to 3500's, and have NEVER had anything like this happen, or even heard of it. I am afraid he fried something. They are on their way to get the truck now, and bring it out here so I can see if I can tell anything about it. Needless to say, he can't hardly drive it to Texas like it is. He's been riding with someone else, but that person is going somewhere else this week.

Please, if anyone has any ideas let me know. They paid this character $500.00 and all he managed to do was mess his truck up.

Thank You,

Randy

Yea that is not a common issue in dodges. I actually work at best buy installing alarms and such. if there isnt any fuses that are blown (which i would check again) and I mean unplug every fuse and check them! If none of the fuses are blown you most likely have a serious problem. Alarms take me 2 hours to complete and that dude took a week? he had no idea what he was doing. When I go into work today ill do some research for you. But once again just make sure he didnt skip over any fuses

Sounds like he blew the TIPM to me. Fishin' buddy of mine has an '07 Ram, bought a boat and his truck didn't have factory tow package, so he installed the hitch and when he went to install the pigtail he crossed wires and blew his TIPM. Almost the identical symptoms you describe. $900 for dealer to replace!

Can you say "ATTORNEY"???

Thanks for the info, the guy talked him into letting him take it to Dodge tomorrow and has agreed to pay to fix whatever it is. I didn't think it sounded like a fuse, with the variety of things affected.

Well, a Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) is much more than a fuse, it controls everything you describe him having an issue with and more.

It's possible if it is the TIPM that the dealer can re-flash it with the StarScan tool and not have to replace it, unless it's truly fried...

That is terrible to hear. I installed an aftermarket alarm on my truck along with a power lock kit and it took me about 4 hours because i quadruple checked the wiring diagrams before putting power to the system. I hope it works out for you.
