Default steering wobble

My truck has a bit of a wobble when I get up around 55mph. drives straight, the streering wheel just goes back and forth about an inch. power steering fluid never changes and stays full. I had the tires of last week changing shocks and sway bar links. Ball joints, cv shafts, and tie rod end links seemed tight. Truck has a 4.5 inch lift and torsion bars turned up 1 turn. Could I use an alignment or tire balancing. I dont know if it has had one. Bought it with the lift. tires seem to be wearing even. Kinda stumped. any help would be appreciated. thanks guys

it would probably be a good idea to get an alignment. it would def be a good starting point. always a good idea when doing as much suspension work as you did. mine tracked good and had very little, if any, wobble after the lift but i still got it aligned. i have a good friend that manages a tire store so it was super cheap but i would've had it done anyways. i don't think it should be all that expensive. especially for the safety you get out of it... hope you get it figured out

Sounds like you have a seperated belt or a tire out of balance in the front. U-joints could be on their way out too, I had a similar problem with mine and I replace the U-joints. woble went away. Hope this helps.

swaped out the front driveshaft because the old one had a bad cv joint in it and rotated the tires and shake is gone. Wish i would have drove it between the two to see if it was the driveshaft or the tires. Anyway its all good.

I would think if it was the tires, you'd still be able to feel a very slight shake even if they are on the rear now, it would be harder to tell than on the front though.
More than likely it was the bad CV joint. There's so many threads about the CVs causing vibrations. Thanks for keeping us posted and glad you got it fixed.

* Oh BTW, you said the CV seemed tight when you checked it, I'm just curious, when the shop checked it out did they take the boot off or have some other means of testing it to see if it's bad? Every time I look at mine I'm like, 'well the boot looks good and no tears' but I have no clue what it looks like under the boot. And with 192,000+ miles I'm sure mine are ready to be replaced as well.

Caseys-dodge is right the tires if it was a seperated belt the vibration would still be there just not as bad. Seperated belts when they are on the front you can see the steering wheel move but when they are on the rear you will feel it in the seat more than anything. Almost like when a dog wags it tail so hard hard it moves the front of his body.
