Yeah MAn, nice hood. Is there any way to make it functional?

For those of you who are buying a new hood instead of just the non functional hood scoop. Why dont you spend extra money and get the srt-10 hood that is functional. I personally would just want a finctional hood myself too.

Come on guys/gals, not everyone is a do-it-yourselfer, nor is looking for the cheapest solution. And, some things we do just for looks. Function isn't all there is to life, at least not for some of us.

Glad you're happy with your new hood, man... it looks good. And, I'd think the price you paid for a "bolt-on" is not bad.

All the best.

Forgive my dissent, but if the hood serves no functional purpose, what's the point?

I also frequent a sport sedan forum where a lot of guys modify their cars. If this was done in the sport sedan arena, it would be considered 'rice' or 'posing.' Like putting an SRT badge on the side of a base truck.

I don't get it, but to each their own..

If I were to do it (which I never would) I would do it like you did - whole hood vice stick on scoop.

I personally wouldn't get a hood scoop that isn't functional for this very reason......everyone asks 'is it functional' and you gotta answer no then this whole debate starts. But to my answer to the question above..... it looks cool (and to make your truck stand out more than the guy next to you). I'm sure there are many that not agree with adding mods for appearance only; but look at the market for fake hood scoops, billet grilles, mud flaps, nerf bars, aluminum gas caps, etc. I think the billet grille is going to be my next modification, whether or not is is funcitonal or not. It still looks cool.

Agree somewhat. I believe (and I know I'm in the minority based on what I read here) that your truck mods should follow a path, a 'flow' so to speak. Either show (cosmetic) or go (performance).

You can modify your truck without ricing it out. If show is your game a nice set of forged wheels and nice rubber will set you apart and earn more appreciative glances than a stick-on fake hood scoop. Even when I see cosmetic mods, the first thing I look for is their functionality. If they serve no purpose, to ME, they cheapen the vehicle and kill the flow. Cosmetic mods for appearance only are fine, as long as they serve a purpose.

EXAMPLE: You want a hood scoop, but aren't going to have any engine mods that really demand one. Put one on that at least offers engine cooling through increased airflow. The cosmetic appearance you were going for is achieved and you get a little functionality at the same time.

I equate stick on hood scoops with giant wings and TYPE-R badges on a Honda. One serves no purpose because the car can't generate the ground speed to take advantage of the wing's function, and the other may as well say POSER because the TYPE-R has never been commercially available in the US. (note: if you ever see a TYPE-R and it's right hand drive, let it go, it'll likely embarass you. hehe)

Sorry - I hate rice.
