Lamp Out Problem
Ok. So i installed HIDs on my 03 ram 2500 hemi and i wired up the resistors and such and the lamp out was off. Before i permanently mounted anything i went for a quick test drive and during the ride i noticed the lamp out came back on but the HIDs were still working fine so i just figured something came loose as nothing was bolted or taped. so i got back to the garage and make sure everything was secure and the lamp out was still on. So then i disconnected the HIDs completely and just reinstalled the factory halogens in both sockets and the LAMP OUT IS STILL ON!!!!!!!! and i have triple checked all other bulbs (brake, blinkers, etc....) any ideas on why this is happening?
thanks

weedahoe or some of the other hid genious' can help you. you can also check out the excellent hid troubleshooting thread, it may be covered in there already.
tripe checking all other bulbs was smart, did you remove all hid wiring/resistors, etc when u put the halogens back in?
i am installing a hid kit in my 2003 this weekend and plan on possibly just dealing with the lamp out light, since we are not 06+ we dont have to worry about the ecu shutting them off.

03/04s have issues with the sockets in the tail lights causing loose connections on the tail light bulbs and giving Lamp Out issues. It may be something as simple as that tricking you.
However, the easiest thing to do is disconnect the HID kit from the headlight connection and return the halogen bulbs back in place and see if that resolves the Lamp Out.
If it does then it is likely the resistors you are not no good, dont have a good connection or are wired incorrectly. You can take a simple meter and test the resistance of the resistor to determine if it is good or not.

I have tried totally removing the hid and returning the regular halogens and the lamp out is still on. That's what my problem is. I know how I have the resistors wired up works fine. It may be the brake lights because before the lamp out came on but the bulb wasn't bad but they would flicker so I took the brake light off and and wiggled it around and it's been fine since then but I don't think that's what's wrong this time. Could it be a computer problem?
At this point with the halogen bulbs back in and still having the lamp out issue, im sure it is in the tail light circuit boards as this is a common issue with those year trucks. It will not be a computer issue. Check your turn signals and hazard lights. Check all parking and brake lights.
ok i have re-checked everything and everything is working fine. it just seems like a coincidence that the lampout came on when installing the HIDs. Is there anything i could do to fix this? Or could i take it to a dealer and could they just erase the lampout off the computer?
