2003 1500 Gas 5.7L hemi QC 4x4,

250,000km,

just wondering if anyone has had any experience with a slight blue puff of oil smoke shoot out while take off a light or a stop. im haveing hardly any oil loss, and i checked and changed the plugs and no oil deposits on the old ones. do we have any serviceable pcv valve, or fitting that could be leaking oil into the intake? any idea would be great!

5.7L V-8
The 5.7L V-8 engine is equipped with a closed
crankcase ventilation system and a Positive Crankcase
Ventilation (PCV) valve.
This system consists of:
² a PCV valve mounted into the top of the intake
manifold, located to the right / rear of the throttle
body (Fig. 12). The PCV valve is sealed to the intake
manifold with 2 o-rings (Fig. 13).
² passages in the intake manifold.
² tubes and hoses to connect the system components

How much oil are you loosing?

It is due to be changed if it hasn't been done yet. (PCV valve I mean)

1 litre in 5000km, im more interested to fix my blue puff as i accelerate off every stoplight, thanks a lot guys for the help!!!

checked the pcv valve, allot of sludge but the plunger was still rattling. So im thinking it might not be the cause. Any other ideas how oil could make its way in to the intake manifold?

Do you have a stock intake or after market one where the crank case vent tube still hooks up to the intake

i was thinking valve guide seals in the heads

stock intake manifold, no bolt on, bone stock

i am going threw the exact same problem. i have changed the pcv valve. even made a breather filter off the oil fill housing instead of it running up to the intake like u guys are talking about on the stock intakes. I thought that would have fixed it but hasn't. looking for more ideas.
im not wanting to believe its the valve guides or rings. cause it only does it after it idles or is stopped for a brief moment.

Classic valve guide seal problem.
Try this.
Sit with the engine warm at about 2000 rpm's for 2 mins. Keep the throttle stable.
Then let off the throttle and let the truck idle for about 3-5 mins.
Then with someone watching the exhaust, blip the throttle hard!
If blue smoke comes out, it's valve guide seals.
