with the ac blowing,, after the fuse blows the ac goes out and the fan keeps blowing its just no longer cool air.the fuse that blows is the ac/clutch fuse so i dont think it has anything to do with the actual fan.

 

I gotcha. So can you leave the ac compressor electrical connection disconnected for an extended period of time and see if it blows?

 

i would i just dont know how long is sufficient..i had a 15 amper in for 5 days before it blew so if i left it in for 2 weeks it should blow but if it doesnt then i am still not sure.. if it were a wire before the compressor and i had the compressor unplugged would it still blow it? i checked the compressor and it had 5 ohms of resistance.

 

well if the plug to the compressor is disconnected and it still blows then you know it is in the wiring or somewhere else.

 

well update,, the ac worked great for a year or so and just started doing it again about 3 months ago.. going to try undoing the plug and see if this works and maybe try to trace the wires better,, but they are kind of a bugger to see..

 

Check all the harness connections first. If you don't see any burnt or melted wiring or connectors then you might have a problem at the fuse box under the hood.

Some 2003's have some issues with Corrosion Shorting leads under the fuse box... I don't have enough time to search for the thread for you but there is a DIY Fix thread on here somewhere.

 

Unplug wires, see if it fuse still blows. Do not use a higher amperage fuse, this can cause major issues. If it blows, most likely in the wiring. If not could be in the clutch itself.

Have you had the freon level checked/tested? Make sure it has proper amount.

Found this on Internet, maybe help as well. Do so at your own risk as I have never tried this.
check the low pressure cut off switch. Unplug the two wire connector and jump the two terminals inside the connector. If the A/C compressor kicks on, then the problem is a low refrigerant charge. if it still blew you have to change your A/C clutch.

 

checked the freon it was low but filled it up and it still has the problem.. going to check wiring harnesses and maybe the fuse box itself..

also completely unrelated but on the same truck.. my radio turns on plays music for a few seconds to minutes and then the sound just shuts off radio looks as if it is still functioning properly and all just no sound.. but everytime i turn the truck on after having it turned off for several hours. it will work.for a couple seconds to a minute or 2. i have changed radios but that wasnt it.. took off my dash to get access to the factory amp and then found out you cant get the amp anymore and the only aftermarket one i can find that will plug in is almost 300 dollars ,, and ideas or has anyone seen this issue resolved? again thanks.
