Question Valve stem seals.

Been on the RockAuto web site to buy some valve stem seals for my 03 5.7 Hemi.

There's several manufacturers on their site.....Felpro,Victor Reinz and DND.

Which is the best company in this line up to buy seals from?
I've used FelPro gaskets in my time in the past and they've been good. The other two companies.....???

Also, are their any differences in sizes for the exhaust/inlets?

Cheers guys.

Al.

Al, last time i changed some i simply called Art at Hensons and ordered from him. IDK what brand they were. Once you pull off the valve assembly and remove the valve, grab some pliers and twist and pull the stem seals up

Can I just pull off the seals aand replace them with the heads still on?
I want to do this as I replace the valve springs to freshen up the top end and get rid of the potential 03 spring failure problem along with replacing the retainers at the same time?
Is it just a question of leavering up the old seals and sliding the new ones on and pressing them down with something?

Absolutely----but you MUST remove the old seals first, then press the new ones on.

Just clean up the area around the stem boss, little bit of oil on everything, press it in place.

If you have the time and aren't rushed, you might bring the piston for the individual cylinder up on TDC while you have the springs off, release the valve from the seat, and give the stem a little wobble in the wear area just to see the "wear" factor.

You may opt to just put it back together until you have more time and just get the heads rebuilt down the road a bit, rather than running all the valves now, if you aren't having any problems.--------just a thought

Great...thanks for the heads up on the seals bud.
I guess I just press the seals into place using finger pressure right??
Yep....my engines running fine at the moment. I'm not going to pull the heads this time out, I am seriously considering putting in a 260 cam.
Remember....I'm one of the many "red headed children" out here, in Dodge world........in other words an 03 lol.
I believe that a 260 doesn't need any tuning am i correct?
Also, I believe it's a low to mid range torque cam suitable for a QC?

you can push the seals down but the pressure from the spring when assembled will also help.

the 260 does not need custom tuning and yes, a lot of guys in QCs have it (and like it)
