Default light shudder 30-70mph?

I have a shudder that I cant figure where its coming from. its almost as if the tires were out of balance, but with the consistency of a bad wheel bearing. I'm thinking the transmission may be the culperate because it seems like it doesn't shudder when throttle is 0%, but I could be mistaken, it may just be less noticeable at 0% throttle. Any ideas on this one?

After more observation I am leaning towards engine caused. Either plug/wire/coil or perhaps valve spring related.

A good way to test that is drive at a steady speed (around 30) and then manually downshift the transmission to second gear. If the shudder gets worse when the engine RPMs jump up you'll know its engine related.

Oh yeah, if you tell us year, engine size, mileage and 4x4 or 4x2 more people will chime in with some more ideas.

05, 5.7, 99500mi, 4x2. I'm back to thinking drive line related. It's difficult to pin down. I'm going to crack the rear open to see if water may have got in from driving through floods from last weeks hurricane. I' should have more info by tomorrow. I'll be replacing the plugs/wires, trans filter/oil, and rear oil. I may be able to eliminate a few things after inspection.

I figured out the problem. Would have found it if I were paying more attention.

The vibration is caused by severe cupping on 1 of my tires. Obviously this was caused by bad shocks, but the problem wasn't felt until I replaced shocks last week. Now that the tires are firmly planted the ridges are producing a noticeable vibration.

I would replace the tire/s but I hate the 17" wheels that are on the truck, so I will wait until I find a 20" that I like/can afford. Im going to try to get by for now by moving the tire to the rear and doing a burnout hoping to smooth down the difference in the highs and lows on the tire.

Glad its something silly.

have been since I bought the truck. I am shocked at the average prices for factory wheels that are in plentiful supply.
