Oil level questions
Well my friend bought a 06 mega cab hemi from the same dealer I bought my 06 hemi from. He changed his oil last night and only had about 5 1/2 qts. I just did mine and I didnt even drain 5 full qts. Both trucks had Dodge oil filters on. Is it possible that the people that did the oil changes just didnt add enough? The mega has 60k and mine has 50k.
Also now that I put 7 full qts of Mobile 1 5-20 my oil gauge is above the half way mark, on the dash, at idle. Is this normal? Thanks

Most likely that's exactly what happened. When I do mine, I fill the filter, pour in a five-quart jug and back it off the ramps. I shut it off, let it sit for a few minutes and check the level. It usually wants about another quart. If you really put seven quarts in, you likely have too much. Check the dipstick - I bet it's over the "max" mark.
As for the gauge - it is not a level gauge, it's a pressure gauge and not a very good one apparently. It's more like an idiot light with a needle. It shows "Yes" pressure or "No" pressure. You'll notice it varies little between idle and full throttle. I don't know if the '06
Megas have an "EVIC". My C does and the actual pressure range from idle to heavy throttle is about 25 psi.

Dealer always puts 7qts in mine and it shows exactly full on the stick.
It always seems that less oil comes out then what you put in. The filter holds some and the rest is laying in places around the engine like the heads and lifter valley.
