Thanks, Big Asp, I've read your comments on other topics and I respect your opinions.
Fact is, I have the money to buy an SRT (QC of course) and the understanding that if I don't purchase now, my family will grow and the money will be put towards the house, retirement, college for the kid or future kids or any other historically more practicle investments.

But I gratuitously and selfishly want it.

Yes I will have a bit of guilt that I could be saving more than I already do for the future but that will dissipate with every smiling mile. And the fact that it's a QC and can haul and tow makes it that much more practicle.

Hemi sport kit? Like Blackacid's ride? Daddy Like! nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Go for the ThunderRoad Hemi and put what is left into your choice of savings. See, you can have your pie and eat it too!

Strangely enough, I was faced with the same dilemma a couple of months ago. I opted for the Daytona. I’m not going to lie to you because in regard to fit and finish the SRT-10s are much more refined with performance abound and are simply amazing vehicles. That being said (and I know that I’m going to catch flack for this) for me it was all about presence and standing out in the crowd. A friend of mine owns a red SRT-10 with whom I have ridden with a number of times and I will tell you from my perspective that the truck didn’t seam to turn many heads save the few who were fellow Ram owners providing their thumbs up endorsement. I did however love stomping the unsuspecting Lightning owner on occasion but was thankful as being the passenger I did not have to explain to the uniformed individual the cause of the significant white smoke plume left at the intersection.

Riding with me however, my bud was surprised as to how much that the general masses paid homage to the great orange beast. I mean that this thing flat-out turns heads everywhere I go. Parked side by side (with the hood closed of course) I get more people walking around my ride than his which seams to irritate my “$14k lighter in the wallet†friend.

My Daytona also had some dealer installed goodies that made my decision a little easier like a custom black and orange leather interior, overhead DVD player (which my 8 year old tells me is cool), and a sprayed on bedliner. Oh and by the way, it compliments my orange custom Fatboy quite nicely.

Just my opinion of course…

Oh GOD this has been a trying weekend!
Just because the car seat fit didn't mean there was enough room for it for my wifes' taste.
"It's a truck, hon, not a volkswagon vannagon" I told her. "Look, I do 99% of the driving of this car. (She drives the Jag) I want to haul lumber and build your picket fence around the house and I want to look good and go fast doing it." (This was met with a cold stare)
Long story short, she could not appreciate the simplicity of any of the dodge vehicles and the understanding that some companies like to put their efforts into building quality engines and not cup holders was lost on her. Ultimately it boiled down to internal storage space and inside the cabin of every truck looked too small to her 5' 3" brown-eyed frame. " Quel Surprise, my dear, that this thing "rides like a truck"...what did you expect from a 1/2 ton pick-up!?" If only the SRTQC-Mega Cab had been out...if only...
Just like with every woman, there's never enough inches.
Tomorrow, we visit our friends who ironically just traded their Tahoe for an Odessey.
"Oh they just LOVE it and I never expected they'd ever be the minivan type of people" she innocently proclaims.
This is how it starts.
I'm getting sucked into minivan status and I'm kicking and screaming all the way.

Anybody out there drive a (gulp) Caravan and like it?

Which would you drive? A $20K something minivan or the '03 Chevy Surburban she just happened to agree "Looked big enough"

I know I'm being a *****, but am I being unreasonable?

In this day and age, is it still verbotten for men to be the sole drivers of minivans?

I call it "Paying it forward" on the future debt that my midlife-crisis will set me back.
Because now, I drive a minivan.
I figure I'm only about 6 years away from not needing a babyseat (If we don't have another kid) and this is a vehicle my wife can easily drive, fold seats, and love all she likes while I angle for that years' super truck.
I was really looking forward to becomming a member of the red button club but all in good time. These are the easiest rationales I can come up with that will appease my ego and help me focus on the reality of not getting my way.

Plus, she blew me last night.

Thanks to everyone for your input and I hope you are all still around when I find my way into Mopar heaven.

All The Best,

CanynroChris

So you're telling us you went from possibly buying an SRT-10 to buying a minivan instead?

God, I'm glad I'm still single.

Consider a cummins. Im not kiddinbg either! I firmly believe that diesels are the new hot rods. If you ask me the hemi is just to anemic in this size truck. You might consider waiting to be the first kid on your block with a 6.1l hemi coming out too. Anyways the only downfall to the cummins is the front end is heavy so youll always have a bit of understeer. Second. if you go tthe auto and then truly beefed up the diesel , the auto needs about 4k in mods to handle power over 800lbs of torque. But transmision aside, you can add power easily. If this interests you at all (hmm i dropped in a $500 chip and am now rated at 455 hp and 870 lbs of torque while getting 18mpg city. ) check out some threads on dieseltruckresource.com. At least your radiator will use the whole grill! oh and your utility will be extremly high. here is a thread about a guy who hauled 43k lbs gross 3500 miles! http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...threadid=71611

My .02 Just got my Daytona RC 2wd last monday. Waited since mid June to take delivery. Drove back from San Fran (where I took delivery) to Phoenix. Stopped in Riverside Ca to pickup a set of SRT-10 seats.
Yes the Go ManGo turns more heads. Everyone at work and at the dealer say they really like the color.
Interior cab noise?(you mentioned in earlier post) Never heard any excessive noise all the way back even when punching it up to 90.
Comes std with Borla exhaust. Obstructed view from spoiler? its not that bad anyway you have side mirrors and to hell with anything behind you. Better fuel mileage than V10.
Either way the final decision is yours and IMHO be damned what anyone else thinks.

I have the SRT-10 Yellow Fever Special and I love it. I traded my Rumble Bee for it.
