Default Interior/Cargo Lights

I have a 2006 2500 quad cab 4x4 TRX 4 with about 64 k miles and a hemi engine.I bought the truck new and purchased an extended warranty from Dodge at that time. It's up at 70k.

One of the issues I have had off and on for a long time is that sometimes the interior display will say the outdoor temp. is -40. Dealer said they would not be able to diagnose this unless it was happening when the truck was there.

Recently my cargo and interior lights have been shutting them selves off way to quickly. With the cargo light you can't hardly get to the back of the truck and it has shut itself off. Same with the dome lights ,even with the doors open they turn off within about 30 seconds.
Grocery shopping ,etc. is a real pain.
The dealer said that it would take hours to find somthing like that and the mechanic thought it was a very unusual problem. Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks, Jeff

I found a TSB that may apply to your problem. Seems to fit your issue to a T. Hope it helps.

NUMBER: 08-026-06 REV. A
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: October 25, 2006

SUBJECT:
Flash: Overhead Console Temperature Reading Inaccurate Or Dome Lamp Turns Off Too
Soon
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Cabin Compartment
Node (CCN) with new software.
MODELS:
2006 (DR/DH/D1) Ram Truck
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before May 30, 2006 (MDH
0530XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may notice that if a vehicle door is left open for longer than 20
seconds the illuminated interior (dome) lamps will turn off.
The vehicle operator may describe that the ambient temperature first displayed in the
overhead console is not accurate (displays -40°C or -40°F), when the ignition switch is
turned to the “On” position, then slowly updates to the outside ambient temperature as the
vehicle is driven.
NOTE: DO NOT reprogram the CCN if the overhead displayed temperature stays at
the -40°C (-40°F) reading after driving the vehicle for MORE THAN 3 minutes
and at speeds greater than 32 Km/h (20 mph). Check the system for an open
circuit condition.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I just checked and the manufacture date of my truck was 5/06. I will contact my local dealer again.

Your welcome. The dealer can look up the TSB by number on their system.
