doing something with our 4.7 single cab 2wd ram
about 3 years ago i lived in florida and we bought aour 2008 dodge ram ST its just a simple truck no frills or anything. and now im living in wyoming where 4wd is almost nessecary, last winter was a bit rough in it. the truck is a lower mileage truck at 42k and i was wondering if theres any way to switch the 2wd drive front end and put a 4wd drive transfer case and front end.
im no stranger to wrenchs i work as a mechanic in the coal mines in north east wyoming. i have just about any tool nessecary to do the job but i was wondering if the 2wd drive frame is identical to 4wd and would be just a simple front end, transfercase, axles(front and rear and intermideate shafts) swap and then wire the auto transfer case up. than a 4wheel alighnment and then im done,
we bought this truck about 3 years ago , and we still owe 11k on it. the dealer is only going to give us 5500 on trade because of the area and 2wd up here dont sell very well they said, the trade in value in any where else iss saying about 10k or so. but they wont give it to us. so were upside down in it big time!! if i could convert this to 4wd drive we would keep this truck for a long time.
im not even opposed to taking the body off and rolling a wrecked and totalled frame form a 4wd short box on it.
was curious if anyone had any answers.
thanks
Matt
