Default 4x4 Indicator Light Issue

I own an '06 3500 Laramie Quad Cab short box with 48re trans and CTDiesel. I have around 60k miles on the clock.

My 4x4 rotary switch used to indicate "Four Wheel Drive" and "LOCK" when the first detent was selected, and "Four Wheel Low" without the "LOCK" light when the **** was turned all the way to the right.

The "LOCK" indicator light now does not illuminate. The four wheel drive function seems to operate ok, but I am concerned that the "LOCK" light indicates a function that is critical or required for the system to operate correctly.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? If so what should I look into? Thanks in advance for your time.

my 03 has the shifter on the floor and my 4x4 light no longer lights up. i found out that the tranfer case postion sensor switch is what is causing the problem its a dealer only part and costs 100 bucks. i didn't fix it because mine is the shifter on the floor as soon as a pull it back i know its locked in.
