Default Intermittant Cruise Control Problem

OK- I have a CDN spec 2004 1500 Hemi 2WD SLT. Vehicle is (afaik) stock.
Cruise works intermittantly. Generally, below 120km/h, everything is OK. However, sometimes in the rain, the cruise (and dash light) goes off by itself. Also, when I go faster than 120km/h, cruise shuts off as well.

Is there a speed limiter on the cruise control system where it can't be activated above a certain speed? I believe it's all controlled from the PCM or whatever its called and there is no vacuum system involved. As the sytem works fine at slower speeds, I wouldn't think that it's a sensor problem.

I find this sucks as the speedo indicates about 10km/h faster than actual (GPS) speeds at anything over 80. Guess I need larger tires.

Any ideas?
