Default 02 5.9 Back Fire, Loss of power

I'm having trouble with my 02 Ram with a 5.9. Very randomly, it will start spitting and sputtering out of the intake, and won't go above about 2000 rpms while in gear. If I throw it into neutral, it will idle up as far as I want, but I put it back into drive and nothing. My max speed is about 30 MPH. Sometimes if I put it into neutral and let it idle for a second, the problem goes away. There are no codes stored in the computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Good luck! I have a 02 5.9 and I am not sure anyone can tell you what the problems are. My does all kinds of weird stuff. I have a friend that has worked at a nearby dealership for 20 years (Dodge). I have tapped the experience of many of the life long mechanics at this dealership and I think they just guess now days. I have had similar problems and all the fixes don't work. Wish I could help you, this website is good source of info, but proves scary reading. These trucks have transmission issues and computer issues, electrical evils and problems a- plenty. Guess probably about like brand X & Y sites have as well.
