Exclamation Uh-oh! Ticking sound form left front When turning left slowly. Or coming to a stop.

Basicly what the thread headline states. ( minus the typonese)
I just got a new set of Cooper Zeon LTZ.
I am hoping someone will tell me that these tires pick up lots of little pebbles and will make the nail or rock in the tire ticking sound.
But I have a feeling it is something worse.
As it is how my life usually goes.

Anywhoos. It only ticks like a baring when turning left or coming to a stop.
My truck is a 2004 1500 4x4 4.7 QC.

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
I do not like to mess with anything that has to do with brakes, suspension , or steering.
But I will do anything I can to save a buck. Unless it is deer season.

Thanks ahead of time guys.

The CV-joint will click when it's starting to go bad. Perhaps that might be it?

Yeah that is what I am kinda afraid of. Any easy way to tell if that is the case without tearing it all apart?

If you just got the tires it might be the tape that was on the tires form the label. Happened to me once, wore off after a few miles.

When my driver side front wheel bearing went out, it was a very obvious grinding noise and feel, that quickly got worse and worse, the more I drove. It was very pronounced when turning. It was much more than a tick noise.

Hope this helps-

My vote is either the CV joint or a wheel bearing. How many miles are on the truck? Does it change whether you turn left or right?

It has 122k on it. I am not the original owner. I purchased the truck jsut over a year and a half ago.
The new tires have been on for about a week.
the ticking/clicking started about 3 days ago.
Fairly faint but only when I break coming to a stop.
Or when I am turning the wheel left. It stops ticking when going right.
Maybe just barely hitting a wear indicator? I have never done the breaks either.
It sounds almost like someone put a single bb inside a bucket and swirling it around. Like a bearing. Tick, tick , tick , tick.
Anywhoos. It sounds like I need to take a trip to the walletectomy doctor. *sigh*

Wheel if it's only when turning or coming to a stop, then I think it's safe to rule out that it's a bad wheel bearing; if it were it would be a grinding noise regardless of turning and speed.
My guess would still have to be the CV joint. And to answer your question about figuring out if it's bad: To get the best idea if it is or isn't then you'd have to take everything apart and look but that's a big pain in the butt. However, you can just look to see it the rubber boot covering the joint is cracked or leaking grease. If it is somewhat cracked then I think you still have some of time before it fails.
Another thing, too, is that if that one is bad then you might want to get the other side replaced too because it's bound to go, too, at some point.

Thanks Dak 22. I was worried it was going to be that. And I am pretty sure it is too.
I going to go ahead get some pics and a manual and attempt to do this myself.
I am going to do both sides. And while I am at it do the ball joints and any other bushings that might need replacing. Going to use Moog parts. so at least they will be greaseable. and the Moog upper control arm looks a little beefier than the stock one at any rate.
Wish me luck. I will post pics of my work. and my busted knuckles. considering I am an amatuer shade tree at best. there is a shop across the street for me to get my alignment done.

Yeah, that sounds like the best idea. While you have everything disassembled for the CV-joint, you might as well replace the other things at the same time to [hopefully] prevent future problems.
Good luck, my friend.
