Default Post Lift Questions

Ok so i put on the Fabtech 6inch suspension lift and threw on some 35's Nitto's. The lift has been on about 3 months now and has about 2k miles on it and im starting to notice a couple little things that are annoying me.

1) Im sure this is normal but i have noticed what feels like more a "loose" ride. A lot more sensitivity in the steering wheel, seems like she hits potholes etc a lot harder and a small turn in the wheel has me crossing over lane lines. (exagerated)

2) A random squeeking from under the truck. I can isolate a side really but every time i hit a small little bump, even at less than idle i hear a creekin, almost sound like the shock is rubbing. iv been doing some decent off roading in the brutal az desert so not sure if thats an issue or any ideas?

Essentially i want to get these solved because the kit and install came with a 3000 mile warranty so i want to address any bugs before that time is up.

thanks again guys!

usually people gripe about DECREASED steering sensitivity with lift (or moreso, the larger tires).

With the squeak, they more than likely overtorqued something. Maybe your control arms. Have you gotten down there and looked for shiny metal (rubbing) or gotten someone else to drive it and tried to pinpoint the sound? Its hard to do this while driving, as things are muffled or magnified depending on where its coming from

I dunno about the 2WD lifts from Fabtech, but I've found with the 4x4 kits that they do start to squeak and rattle a good bit as they "settle in". The Fabtech kits are bargain basement kits and I'm sure the bushings and fittings aren't gonna be the same quality as you are gonna get out of say a Skyjacker or Rancho kit.
I'd take a good look and tug on some things just to make sure everything is still tight, but I think everything is fine, just some rattling from some cheap bushings is all...

I have the same issues as you except the steering issue but I have a different steering issue. I usually just spray some WD40 under there and it gets rid of the squeaks for like a week. I need some bump stops for up front though so maybe check those too.

When I had my lift (which is the one 08HEMI1500 bought) the heim joint on the sway bar end link was the culprit. A little shot of WD-40 and it was good to go.

Thanks for the info guys, yeah i need to have someone drive it and get in and out. I am big boy 6'4 300lbs--and when i get out of the truck i even here it creek. So i am going to have a buddy hop in and out while im under it to try and isolate it. Also set up an appt later this week to bring it back in to the shop, although im betting they will find something that needs to be "fixed". I got under neath it and the bump stops are there and everything looks to be good. Il take it to the shop i had it at and if they recomend anything bring it to one or two more to verify. thanks again

im going to chalk it up to the lift settling in, wd-40'd the hell out of the front and she is quiet as a mouse. Still kind of worried about the "loose" steering feel. Shope said she was in tip top shape though.

I had the same kit put on mine back in 2007 and had the same issue. I took it back to the install shop and they got under there and said it was nothing more than a few loose bolts. Just like with new lugs, after a certain amount of time/miles, you have to get things re-torqued. After that all has been well and I have not had any issues in the past few years.

One thing I would be cautious of/look at though is the bolt holding the shock to the control arm. Unfortunately for me, that bolt wore out the threads on one of my arms and I had to replace the entire arm. At 700 bucks, it was a pricey lesson-learned.
